Affilorama, and why it comes up
Affilorama is the affiliate training platform Mark Ling founded over twenty years ago. It matters here for one reason: it is the checkable part of the record behind a product being sold today.
What it was
One of the earliest attempts at teaching affiliate marketing systematically, launched when the field barely had a name. Free material, paid membership, tools, a forum - the shape that most training platforms have used since.
It ran for a very long time, publicly, under one name. That is the whole significance of it for anyone deciding about a purchase now.
Why a buyer should care about something from twenty years ago
| What you can check | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| The business existed for two decades | The seller is not a one-launch operation |
| It operated under one identifiable name | There is a continuous record to examine |
| Customers discussed it openly for years | Criticism exists and can be read |
| The same person is still trading | Someone will be there in twelve months |
None of those is a statement about quality. All of them address the specific risk that worries most people at this price, which is not "will it be good" but "will there be anybody there afterwards".
What it does not tell you
Whether the 2026 programme is any good. A platform from twenty years ago teaches nothing about a method built this year, and treating longevity as a quality guarantee is the mistake in the opposite direction.
Longevity clears a bar. It does not clear the one that matters to your outcome, and the free sessions are the only thing that does.
How the two connect
Affilorama was the platform; the September launches are the current business. Different products, same person, and the through-line is a public record you can search rather than a claim you have to accept.
The pattern worth noticing across the whole industry
Most training businesses in this field last one product cycle. Someone launches, sells, and the name never appears again - which is why a buyer has so little to go on when assessing anyone new.
Against that background, a business that ran for two decades under one name is not merely older. It is a different category of thing, and it changes which questions you still need answered.
Checking any of this yourself
- Search the platform name and read what comes back from sources that are not his own pages.
- Look for discussion spanning years rather than a burst around one date.
- Check that criticism exists. A seller with none anywhere has either no customers or a cleaned-up footprint, and both are worse signals than ordinary complaints.
